How can I use multiple sizes from the same multisized pattern?
I know the basics of cutting out a pattern, transferring marks and darts, etc. What I need is to be able to a pattern over and over again, but in different sizes. Patterns are way too expensive to buy a pattern for each individual size and I want to be able to reuse patterns to make different sized garments. I know one way to do this is to transfer each piece to large pieces of paper like newsprint or pattern drafting paper, but is there an easier way that doesn’t involve cutting the pattern out at all and instead, transferring the uncut pieces directly to the fabric? One person suggested a transfer wheel, but that won’t work with all fabrics.
Ask at your local newspaper publisher for an “end” roll of paper. Use this newsprint to create the patterns in each size. When you lay out the largest size, put the newsprint under the pattern and cut through all layers, making sure to transfer any markings to the newsprint as well as the fabric. Repeat with each size…
Or if you are not cutting out the larger sizes at first, go ahead and lay them out on the newsprint as if you were laying out with fabric and cut them out, transferring markings… etc… Hope this makes sense…
OH, and be sure to label all the peices with the lette, size, and pattern number!
