How do I wind a bobbin with heavy thread for quilting?
I have heard that it should be done manually. Is this right?
You should be able to wind quilting thread (as long as it is for machine sewing and not hand sewing) on the sewing machine or portable bobbin winder without issue.
If the thread is very thick, like yarn or stretchy like nylon/invisible/monofilament/metallic thread you need to hand-wind.
Never use thread for hand quilting (it has a wax coating) in a sewing machine.
