Can silk charmeuse be ironed?
I have some silk charmeuse fabric with quite a few creases in it…any ideas whether or not this fabric can be ironed? On what setting? Please only answer if you actually know… thanks! : )
When I iron my silks I use the silk setting on my iron. However, there was a time when I had an iron that did not have such setting and what I used to do worked just as well. Stretch out your silk fabric on an ironing board (pin it to the sides of the board with gentle laundry pins if you have some) and lay some linen fabric on top of the silk. Then iron it on the lowest setting, the linen on top of it will protect it while it is being ironed.
If you choose to steam the fabric be careful, it might stain the silk.
