Does the size you would cut a sewing pattern often vary from regular size?
I’m used to sewing skirts and I always follow my dress normal size and they turn out fine. However, I’m trying to sew a dress for the first time and based on my bust, waist and hip measurements, It is wanting me to follow a pattern this is three dress sizes bigger than what I would get in the store. Does this sound about right?
If you buy it at Walmart and it fits, then the pattern in the same size will fit.
Reason – Walmart does not sell clothing in vanity sizes (smaller than what you really are).
Take accurate body measurements and use those measurements to choose the pattern size.
Before cutting into the fashion fabric, make a “muslin” using muslin or another inexpensive fabric and this will help you determine if the size indicated on the pattern needs to be altered.
