if i subsitute regular salt for rock salt when making icecream does it matter?
im trying to make homemade icecream and the recipe calls for rock salt, which i dont have. would regular salt or even sea salt work?
I don’t think anything BUT rock salt will accomplish what you are trying to do. If all else fails, ( we used to do this before they made ice-cream churns or makers way back in the 50s) see if you can find some old-fashioned aluminum ice cube trays at a Flea market, Thrift shop or such as this and fill tay about 2/3 full, place in freezer until frozen and it is soooo yummy..tastes like Ice Cream used to before all these preservatives, etc.started to be used and spoiled the taste of really fresh, home-made Ice Cream. If you cannot find the old ice-cube trays, then I suppose any aluminum freezable pan or dish would accomplish the same result. Good luck..just a suggestion…hope it helps.
