What is the best way to prepare an old 33 RPM record album for mailing?

I need to ship a record album to a friend in another state. What is the best way to package it, to prevent it from getting broken?

I received an old 33 rpm from ebay and the seller had thick piece of cardboard around it. He made an evelope using the carboard to help keep the record flat and to prevent it from bending. Arrived here (Canada from the US in perfect Condition) If you write “fragile –do not bend–that should help as well)
