what is the best fabric to use for a baby blanket/quilt?

i have heard some fabrics are not good to use for a baby blanket/quilt. what are the safest/best fabrics to use?

Nix to polar type fleece – it pills, sheds and looks nasty after it has been used a few times or has been washed.

You can use flannel – pre wash and dry about 3 times as it shrinks and you want this to happen before the quilt is sewn.

Cotton is a standard for quilts.

Minkee (aka Minky) is probably the most popular for baby items.
