what kinds of fabrics, trimmings, and ribbons should i use while making cute lolita?
because of the particular way it is made, not just any kinds of these things can be used. can someone tell me places where i can get good quality supplies (and also what the supplies are called)?
Lolita outfits are ALWAYS Cotton.
Do not use Satin. – Ever! It looks really cheap and terrible.
Unless you’re layering it -although I’ve never seen that before-
Anyways; a fabric store is good enough. -I’m from Australia and the only store I can recommend is found in Australia and New Zealand.
All you need to buy to make a decent Lolita outfit is:
Cotton that isn’t transparent. Some cottons have patterns that suit well but aren’t too ‘bright’.
Lacing (I use Cotton and usually buy the whole roll if it’s really pretty) Get Lacing that has already been ‘ruffled’ or ruffle it yourself (Plain straight lacing isn’t all that pretty)
Ribbon! – I buy Satin Ribbon that’s Machine Washable.
Eyelets (The ribbon is usually threaded through this) – You don’t have to use these. Instead I cut out strips of fabric -Diagonally and around 5cm width which I then turn inside out-
That’s pretty much it!
