Is this nursery out of control?
My friends 3 year old recently started nursery 2 days a week, she isnt fully potty trained yet and wears pull ups to nursery they said they accept children in pull ups and will change them, every day she goes and comes home her pull ups are full and sagging where they havent changed her. her clothes are covered in paint because they dont provide aprons unless the kids ask (what 3 year old will think to ask for an apron) and it was raining the other day and they let them play out in it and splash in the puddles so she got soaked. they throw away their paintings rather than giving it to the mums as keepsakes too. my daughter is soo young for nursery so i dont have experience of them, but surely this isnt right behaviour? there isnt even many children there so they cant say they are too busy to focus on one child. are we just worrying over nothing or should she do something? i was considering sending my baby there when shes older but its made me think twice now
This is not acceptable at all. No parent has to put up with this – especially as a paying customer.
Your friend should first speak with the manager of the nursery and ask why her daughter is being allowed to wee in her pull up’s instead of being trained – and why she isn’t changed when she does have an accident.
She must also point out that it isn’t acceptable to paint / messy play without aprons and that playing in the rain is good, if they have wellies and macs.
If there is no satisfactory answer from the manager, she should then report it to the Local Education Authority who will point her in the right direction. All nurseries in the UK are OFSTED inspected these days.
If I were your friend, I would be enrolling my child in another nursery anyway and still reporting this.
