Does this necklace mean anything?
Sorry I don’t have a picture. You’re just going to have to go by my description.
It is beaded. The part that goes around my neck is made up of small different color beads. It doesn’t appear to be in any special order.
Then the decoration on the end is oval and kind of squishy. There are rings going around one another. It goes red, black, red, black, red for a total of five rings. Then inside the red ring is a red bead. (same on both sides) Then there are white beads going around the oval sewing both sides together.
There are two rings of beads hanging down from the red and black oval (no color order).
(when you flip it upside down it kind of looks like bunny ears)
Oh, and from the part that goes around my neck there are two extra strings of beads (one on each side) attaching the part that goes around my neck to the red and black oval part (no color order)
No idea. I don’t think that necklaces that ‘mean’ sth are made anymore.
But necklaces did have different meanings in past civilizations.
Ones that were ornately decorated, lots of details and hanging stuff, kind of like yours but made of gold, were only worn by married women or women to be married soon in the ancient greek era.. so that others knew she was not availble..Some indian tribes also had a fascinating way to show different things, depending on the necklace worn..I wish I could remember the name so you could look it up..
