How do I clean Northwoods boots?

My son owns a pair of Northwoods boys boots(rubber outsole, nylon upper), and he stepped in some deep mud with them on. Should I be worried about cleaning them? They are not wet inside, and we don’t care about aesthetics, but the outside is covered in wet,thick, sticky mud. He can still easily walk in them, and I don’t want to clean them if I don’t have to.

Should be able to clean with dish soap and water, wipe well after with wet rags to get rid of soap. Just outside of the boots, don’t let water go into the inside of the boots and they will be fine.
