Needlepoint Pillow

How to make a needlepoint pillow. i have the needlepoint finished i just need to make it into a pillow?

i need instructions for taking a completed needlepoint picture and making a pillow. i have never done this before but i know a bit about sewing, so a guide would really help. i am very visual so pictures and links are welcome.

You can buy a pillow form… a ready-made white pillow stuffed with foam or feathers. These are easier to use than stuffing you do yourself.

Decide on shape and size of the finished pillow and add extra for a “seam allowance on each edge.” If you want a 12×12 inch pillow with a 1/2 inch seam allowance, cut out your fabric to be at least 13×13. Your stiching line will be 1/2 inch from the cut edge of the fabric. Cut your needlepoint panel to the same size.

Put the two pieces of fabric together, wrong sides out, and pin them together all along the edges. Make a mark or a small cut to show you which is the bottom edge. You are going to sew them together, starting on the bottom edge about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way from the bottom corner. Sew all aound all four corners, ending up 1/4 to 1/3 of the way past the other bottom corner. Your pillow will end up with an opening (six to 8 inches wide) in the middle of the bottom edge.

After you have done that, remove pins and turn the fabric right side out again. Put your hand inside and push the corners out so they’re nice and square. Use a warm iron to press the unsewn seam allowance, and also press all the edges smooth.

Fold the pillow form in half and insert it into the opening. Then adjust the form and the pillow case to get the corners lined up.

Pin the two edges of the opening so the seam allowance is inside. Use small stitches to sew the opening closed.
