stop beeswax going flakey using latex molds, or how to repair objects that have gone abit flakey ?

I have made many objects using latex molds, but some of them are coming out alittle flakey and dont look so good….. how can i clean them up, what should i use, i tried washing them with washing up liq, just water, scraping the flakeyness off, all no good…. what about a varnish or vasaline ?? any ideas… BEESWAX only please. Thanks

What is probably happening (I work with latex molds and other waxes) is that the hot wax is gluing to the latex and then is adhering to the rest of the wax as it cools, so that when you peel the latex off, that first cooling is being separated from the body of the wax object, like bark peeling on a tree. I am not sure of what separators can be used with beeswax but I have used spray fat like olive oil and canola oil. If “BEESWAX only” means exactly that, no separator, then I think you are going to have to wash the molds carefully and use as low temperature wax as possible. You may have to pour wax in the mold and turn the mold to coat the inside and cool the thin layer quickly, then fill the mold so you keep the wax on the latex as cool as possible to avoid the bonding. If you will accept some separator, but not oil, you might try the Murphy’s Soap solution used on plaster or contact the makers of the latex molding compound.
