If you’ve not made your own Christmas or holiday cards before, this is the year to start! It’s very easy to make some really professional looking cards and this article will give you an overview of some the card making supplies you’ll need to get going.

In general there are two types of card making. One using rubber stamps, and the other using various other embellishments. So first off you’ll want to choose which type of card you’d rather be making as this will determine exactly which card making supplies you’ll want to get.

If you go with rubber stamps, you’ll want to select (or make your own) rubber stamp. There are loads of different places to get rubber stamps, like Amazon, Michaels, JoAnn’s or your local craft shop. Look for some Christmas card making ideas online or in a card making book and pick the rubber stamps that will work with the instructions before you go out shopping! You may not be able to get the exact stamp that’s in the pattern, but as long as it’s similar it will work well.

You could equally make your Christmas cards with other embellishments, like card toppers, wire and bead designs or paper punches. Again you’ll want to find an idea you like before you start looking for the embellishments. There are various card toppers you can buy, although it’s much more satisfying to making your own, even if it takes a little longer.

Another type of embellishment, that will come in handy for next year’s holiday cards, is to cut out various items from the cards (or gift tags) you receive this year. You’ll be surprised just what can be re-used to make some excellent Christmas Cards!

Whatever type of card you choose, you’ll also need the basic card making supplies. These include blank cards and envelopes, decorative paper, pens, adhesives, a steel ruler and other small items as well as the actual tools.

When it comes to cutting tools, you’ll want to invest is some quality items, like a paper trimmer, metal edged decorative scissors, as well as a pair of normal scissors, a good safe to store craft knife and a self-healing cutting mat.

Finally you also need a good bag, box or other storage unit to hold all your supplies in a way that makes it easy to access them when you need them.

I can’t decide what knife blank that I want to get, I know that I dont want a hidden tang knife and I dont want to spend a ton of money on it, can you guys tell me what one I should get, this is the website

It depends on what you want it for, but since I cook a lot I would recommend the classic chef.
