Is my GSD a mix or purebred (photo inside)?

He is not what I am used to seeing winning in the show or performance ring for his breed, that is, he is not perfectly “correct” or “ideal” in type, but I can’t see any other breeds in him. He might be crossed with a similar looking breed like a Siberian Husky, Belgian Shepherd, or Dutch Shepherd, but it is more likely that he is a purebred of no particular ancestry. The only reason it would really matter is if you plan to breed or show, but in that case you would know that he was purebred because he would be registered and have a known pedigree.

He looks like a handful and quite intelligent! Hopefully you get a chance to do some canine sports with him in the future and prove his worth in his value as a pet and friend!
