Question about the City of Glass book?

I have a question about the third book in the Mortal Instruments series. I finished the third book, City of Glass, and I was wondering how the last battle between the shadow-hunters/down-worlders and the demons ended? Did the shadow hunters and others defeat the demons, or what? Or did the battle end because the Angel was called on? Thanks. sorry for the spoilers.

Valentine’s side consisted mostly of demons and evil downworlders, which is big-time hypocritical because he was fighting to get rid of them in the end anyway. Valentine just used them for his own means and tricked them to swear allegiance to him. Because of their oath, the demons had to fight for him in the war against the shadowhunters. Valentine was killed by the Angel because Clary placed that ruin in his ritual, thereby telling the Angel to destroy him instead of helping him. The battle ended shortly after Valentine was killed because the demons that fought for him were no longer bound to him. It’s mostly common sense. You take away an enemy’s leader and they’re are soon thrown into confusion and become unstable, making it easy for others to overwhelm them. The Shadowhunters that fought in the war didn’t stop as soon as they saw their enemy’s weaken, making it easy to defeat them.

If you’re asking if they killed them or not, the book doesn’t say. The shadowhunters could have killed them all, or the demons retreated back to wherever they came from.
