Here we are nearing the end of winter and if you’re like me the fun boots, heavy coats, and warm sweaters have made it to the front of the closet. Following the old adage of putting away the white shoes and pants of the summer months just seems to happen without a second thought. The fact that fashion trends tend to correspond to the seasons of the year probably comes as no surprise, so it seems perfectly natural that our jewelry choices will likewise have a seasonal pattern.
The winter months are dominated by images of ice and snow. Therefore, diamonds, cubic zirconia, and pearls tend to enhance almost any of our winter clothing choices. We also get to pull out the various Christmas and holiday stuff, which would just be wrong at any other time of the year.
Very soon, we will be looking forward to the bright sunlight of spring. With the emerging flowers and pastel colors of the holidays we associate with this time of the year, it is best to avoid the large, dark gemstones that go best with the winter months. The more delicate fabrics and designs common during springtime mean our choices of jewelry should be light colors to compliment the fashions of the season.
Next will be summer, the season of sun and fun. The choices for these months can range from conservative to wild and wacky, and most often include bright colors to go with our summer outfits. This is also the time for shells and crystals, which represent sea and sand, as these go hand and hand with our thoughts of the long hot days of June, July and August.
As the winds start to blow colder, and the leaves begin to turn orange, brown, and gold on the trees, out comes the turtle necks and heavier clothing. What better way is there to draw attention to your face, and away from your rising neckline, than dangling or hoop earrings?The earthy colors of the fall season should shine through your jewelry selections, so bring out the amber and topaz and let fall begin.
It goes without saying that there are seasons for almost everything in our lives. From the foods that we eat to the sports people enjoy, there seems to be pattern that most of us follow. Remember, there is a cycle for all our belongings, and jewelry is no exception. Don’t discard an unworn piece just yet, maybe its season is just around the corner.

can someone send me the plastic canvas pattern for the fashion doll dream castle?
there used to be a book printed that was a huge plastic canvas pattern for a barbie “fashion doll” dream castle. I’ve been dieing to get my hands on the pattern because I would love to make it as a gift for my cousin who is obsessed with stuff like that but I can’t find the book anywhere so I was wondering if someone would be nice enough to copy and e-mail me the pattern. I would be more than happy to send you some patterns in return if you’d be willing to help me out.
