Similarities and differences of Day of the Dead and Halloween?
Can someone tell me some similarities and or difference between Dia de los Muertos(Day of the Dead)and Halloween?
Or if you know where I may get more answers could ya tell me that too?

The major similarity is that they are both rooted in the Catholic festivals of All Saints and All Souls (Nov 1 & 2).
The major difference is that Hallowe’en (The Eve of All Saints, All Hallow Eve) developed in Protestant cultures who fundamentally disapproved of the original holidays. The festival lost it’s connection to Christian liturgy and gained the reputation for being wicked, pagan, satanic even – which meant it became a sort of anti-establishment celebration.
In Catholic countries the church connection was maintained so the Puritan idea that they were wicked never took root. The days remain a time to celebrate the lives of good people who have died and to commemorate and pray for all the dead. They are not particularly Mexican as similar celebrations and customs are found all over the Catholic world – Spain, Italy, the Philippines etc. Some of the less extreme European protestants kept the festival alive as well so you also find it in Nordic countries, Germany, Hungary and others.
Of course when Americans visit Mexico, they see all the “Days of the Dead” customs and don’t recognise them as Christian. They quite often, in their ignorance, conclude that they must be something left over from the ancient Mexican civilisation. However, Ancient Mayan and Aztec ideas about death were completely different. The style is Mexican, but the substance is definitely Christian – Catholic.
