A hand-held can opener is a tool that uses a wheel, a wedge or cutter and a lever to accomplish the task of opening cans. The first tin can was invented just to find a way to preserve food. However, the first cans were so thick that it was necessary to use a hammer in order to open the cans completely and that required big support from the openers.
Hence to overcome the difficulty of opening cans, can openers were invented which used a cutting wheel to cut the lid of the can. Further to the development, Can Opener Company improved the designs of the previously designed can openers by adding a serrated wheel to work as a turning gear.
The person opening the can uses the handles as levers to position the rim of the can between the cutting wheel and the serrated wheel. The user who needs to open the can applies pressure to the handles to draw the handles together.
As the handles move together, the two wheels are drawn together. The serrated wheel grips the can tightly avoiding the danger of dropping the can or sometimes the cutting wheel breaks through the surface of the can lid which also should be avoided.
The serrated wheel drags the metal across the cutting edge while pressure is to be applied strongly on the handles.
Once the tool has traveled through the circumference of the can, the lid separates perfectly from the can. Maintaining a consistent level of pressure against the handles ensures a continuous and beautiful cut. The turning can causes the cutting wheel to turn as it cuts through the lid of the can.
It was not until another Company added a pair of plier-like handles to grip the can which are similar to the ones used today. A sharp edge on the cutting wheel would make the process easier as it does not require large amount of energy. Although most can have standardized opening procedures of the lid, there are occasions when the lid is too high or too rounded which makes the opening too tough.
A punch style or key opener might work very well too.

i kinnda of got the hang of driving but i have a hard time in parking and backing out of spaces.
