How to knit a rug with clothes?

I know knitting. I have lots of old clothes at my home. I want to use those to knit rugs at my home.
I do not know crochet. Is there anyway I can learn making beautiful rugs out of knitting without crochet?

To knit with old clothes, you need to cut the cloth into strips and tie the pieces together to make a ball of “yarn” to knit with, or just a pile. The you would want to use large needles (13′s at least, I would think) and make a rectangle or whatever shape you want the rug(s) to be.
