Clip in hair extensions are very popular from Hollywood red carpets to proms, weddings and other special occasions. They are a must when you want to look great, add length, change your color for the day, put a little sparkle in your hair, even add feathers, and they are all temporary. These extensions basically make a statement.

For extensions to work best, your natural hair should be shoulder length or longer. However if you hair is shorter hair, they work as well as long as the natural hair is thick and can hide the clip. If you have long hair, the clip in may not be for length but it could be to add a little color or even variety from your every day hair style. On the other hand, extensions that you use on short hair will most likely be to add length and fullness.
Your natural hair should also be medium to thick in texture so the hair extension clip on base is easy to hide from view. You should choose a color that will compliment your natural hair color unless you want to make a statement by adding pink strands or even tinsel like strands.
To put the hair extensions in to stay, you first want to open the snapping clips on each hair extension. Next, separate the hair into three sections: left side, right side and back. It is best to begin working with the back of the head, securing the side pieces out of the way.
Remember to gently tease the root of the natural hair section to help keep the clips from slipping out of the hair. Now attach the extension or weft to your natural hair by inserting the center clip into the root of the hair starting with the back of the head. Once the teeth of the clip have grasped the natural hair, snap both sides to secure. After the back of the head is completed, attach side pieces in the same manner.
It’s very easy to place the extensions and it may be a different matter if the extensions need to be cut into a style. The best person to cut hair extensions is professional hair stylist that has experience with clip in hair extensions.
