What is the most ideal homebrew/developer tool cartridge (DS storage device) for a DS?
I’ve been looking for a tool to help me develop video games for the DS. I’ve been wanting to learn C++ and this is a good way for me to have something to work towards, the problem, I don’t have any experience with many of the different types of homebrew carts out there.
It seems like R4 would be a good choice, but I can’t really find a comparison of their ability to process and such.
Qualities that I am looking for:
able to use a microSD card to store data
Wide range of applicability
Relatively inexpensive, if possible.
Any links with places to buy/compare, comparisons, or personal experience will help. Already looked on Wikipedia and some other sites, so personal experience would be the best.

Hi — Good to see someone wanting to develop more apps for the DS using the flash cards. The R4 is the most popular even though there are better cards out. Here’s a good R4 Guide that might help you pick one out. The two main things to look for is the size of the microSD or microSDHC the R4 takes and if it’ll work with DS, DS lite and DSi handhelds. The following R4 guide will help you sort all that out.
I personally own an original R4 with a 2GB microSD. It does the job for me as Im able to put about ~40 DS games, the entire NES library with emulator, and a dozen other apps.
