Is it necessary to lay weed block fabric before laying new topsoil over a weed bed?
I live just north of Anchorage, Alaska and am planning to build a garden over a low, heavily weeded area next to a swamp. First, I intend to spray Round-up and then lay about 3″ of gravel before adding 10″ – 12″ of topsoil. Should I consider consider laying weed-block fabric? If so, should it be under or on top of the gravel?
